Here you will find art class information for Kids, Teens and Adults. I, Diana Marion, am focused on providing high-quality art instruction in a fun and supportive environment.
I will do everything I can to meet your expectations. I have a BFA in art from UC Berkeley where I graduated Phi Beta Kappa in 1980. I studied with some of the greatest Bay Area Artists, Elmer Bischoff, Jay DeFeo, Mary O'Neal, Jim Melchert and Christopher Brown to name a few. My education includes all types of painting, printmaking and sculpture. For more than 20 years, I have been teaching art to kids, teaching more than 7000 students.
My art education started when I was four years old. Vera, my Grandmother, used greeting cards from the late 19th century and early 20th century to teach me to draw. Throughout grade school, middle school and high school, I learned jewelry design, ceramics, enameling, embossing, leather tooling, water color painting, along with Sumi painting. I have been drawing and painting ever since. Because of my personal experience with creating art my entire conscious life, enables me to share it with others, especially kids.
I believe art is a necessary element in our society, it is what defines us as a civilized society. My interest in teaching art and my business in teaching art is based on my belief that everyone desires an ability to create things. Art is my avocation in life. I discovered teaching art to people builds self esteem. California Art Council published a study more than 10 years ago, that those students that studied art and/or music for three consecutive years scored 30 points higher in math and English. My commitment to art education and forming personal relationships with my students and their parents mean that my business is from repeat customers and referrals. During the summer I offer one week long classes, three times: June, July and August. During the school year, September through May, I offer ongoing after school classes for kids, teens and adults.
